World No. 4 Andy Murray ended the hopes of American Donald Young on Thursday in quick fashion. After almost two full days of waiting, as rain plagued the tournament, Murray resumed on Thursday trailing 2-1 in the opening set against Young.

Murray dominated from the start to win 6-2 6-3 6-3, which will benefit him, as he will have time to recover for his quarterfinal Friday against American John Isner. With the duanting task of possibly having to play on four consecutive days, Murray welcomed the quick match, but thought he could have been better.

“I could have made it easier for myself if I’d served better so I’ll go and hit some serves this afternoon,” Murray continued.

When asked whether he would prefer to play American John Isner or Frenchman Gilles Simon, Murray said, “It’s tough. I’d probably say Gilles because you’re more in control of the match. Against John it can come down to a few points if he’s serving great.

Murray will face John Isner who later won his match against Gilles Simon setting up a quarterfinal match against Murray.

The weather forecast for New York is not good for the coming days, though, and could open up the possibility of a Monday final for the fourth consecutive year.
